Flashback --> Living in the moment on Big Island Hawaii

Publicerad 2014-07-04 22:33:00 i Allmänt,

When it was time for weekend. A weekend at Hawaiian Islands. You kind of feel like anything is possible and you don't know where you're going to end up.

I'll share about the whole trip to Big Island.

We started with getting up eairly saturday morning. We went by bus to the airport and flew with Hawaiian Airlines for what I think was 20 minutes from Oahu to Big Island. Me, Thorge, Alex and Chris took the same flight. We also met Fabiene, Anett and Fabio at the island, but they took an even eairlier flight.

When we arrived we went to the car-rental and I got to drive, it was really amazing driving across this beautiful island. I can't describe it. The picture above is from the first stop when we went to the SOUTHEST POINT of the Hawaiian Islands.
This is also from the south part. At this picture above this text there was a man going in the water to fish tuna among the rocks.
It was a beautiful day. We went from a rainy Oahu and came to a sunny Big Island.
The water was so clear. Beautiul deep blue. The ground and nature was so differen't depending on which place you were at Big Island. It was like a box of chocolate that had all from green nature to black vulcanorests.
We saw black crabs in Waikiki. Let me introduce you to the red crab we met on Big Island. He/she was very beautiful and big.
We got into the car again and went to Green Beach, when we couldn't take the car anymore because of the terrain we left the car and started walking. And oh shit what a long way it was. We passed bay after bay. It was hot and not as close as we had expected, thereof we hadn't bought anything to eat or drink. It was really amazing. Just nature. No tourist-crap.
Walking on sunshine.

And finally we got there and this was what our eyes got to meet. GREEN BEACH.
We went for a swim in the water, I remeber it was very salty and you didn't really have to swim to stay above the surface, the waves where funny and the sand of the beach was green. Laying there floating in the water was so wonderful, so lovely, so perfect.
Some parts of the roads where a bit torn, and the reason for it.......:
...was this, and we also got lift back for 10 dollars, it was a bumby ride; crazy and so much fun, I laughed uncontrollaby.
When we got back to the car first priority was to eat something. We stopped at this little shop next to an old gas-station. We bought ice-cream and drinks. Then we went to a restaurant close by and ate. After that we got to BLACK BEACH, which was really cool. I haven't seen anything like it before.
The palm-trees where high and I could spot a lot of coconuts.
Black sand. Green trees. Blue ocean. Some of the coulours of Hawaii.
And at this beach there were turtles!!!!! It was so amazing to see them like this. In the wild and together.
Sleeping. Relaxing. We did the same. Don't worry, be happy.
We went through dark and empty forrests, it was so cool but it somehow felt like in a horrormovie. We came to a little place with a shop, a gas-station and a restaurant with live music. It was dark and cold outside so our camping plan got destroyed haha, it wasn't as tempting laying in a sleepingbag under the bare sky anymore. We ate some food and then we went to the VULCANO-PARK which someone recomended us to do at night. This was so cool. Really. The black sky was covered by stars and the orange lava from the active vulcano was lighting up the dark. It was really cold, but it was a perfect moment spent with nature. I met two swedish women there too who I talked to. Then we went back to the campingspot, where we parked the car and slept in it.

It was quite funny waking up in the morning, seeing one person behind the bag (the car was really full of our stuff too) and then I looked back and the next one sat up and then a tired head in the trunk showed haha, this was at 5-6 in the morning when we had to continue our journey at Big Island.
This morning it was raining unfourtunitly. We went to a small city called Hilo for breakfast and then to RAINBOW FALLS which was very beautiful. We went through the cool rainforest and we're climbing on the rocks to get to the top of the waterfall. We had to be carefull because it was slippery and there where a few pools there too and then the flood leading to the waterfall, but atleast we could climb so we wheren't close to that considered dangerous.
It was amazing like a lot of other things at Hawaii. Or not a lot, ALL things at Hawaii.
The waterfall from the top. It was high. It doesn't look very high in this picture.
Above the waterfall. To bad it was such a fog, but it was really cool seeing all the nature and how the water kept on flowing.
Next stop was Akaka Falls State Park. It was amazing nature reaching as far as your eyes could see.

Let me introduce you to AKAKA FALLS. There were this sign of differen't waterfalls, among those Niagara Falls where in a picture, and all of there hights stood there. Akaka Falls is the highest waterfall I've ever seen live. It was so beautiful and loud and the water where blowing up in our faces.
Then we headed higher. High up in the mountains to finally reach the NORTHEST POINT of the island. I don't know where to begin about the roadtrip here. I was driving and got lost in nature. Nature that truely faschinated me. All you had in the moment was a road, not straight, not direct. It was a winding road. And nature. The grass was so green and all you could see except from the mountainshadows, the white cloads slowly wondering over the blue sky and hundreds of darkbrown cows wandering over the grass looking like Bredgott-reklamen. I don't have pictures of all of this but I do have it in my mind where it will stay forever.
Run Forest RUN.
Hit the road!
Moving across the island to the North Point.
Ford Focus, we saw Big Island together. We met the terrain together. And saw things not a lot of people have seen. The GPS once lead us wrong, when we're going to Akaka Falls. We left the car and walked through the mudd and saw nothing but green nature and forrest, cows and the occean. I'm so happy that it did, that it lead us wrong.
We met a beautiful view at the north and it was veryyyyy windy.
It was also very untouched.

When you're at a roadtrip in Hawaii - the aloha state, where all of the car-plates have this rainbow behind the regristation-numbers, and you drive across the US-island where the sky suddenly gets painted with a rainbow which we could see from beginning to it's end, you're amazed and stunned, and have to stop the car. It was overwhelming.
Our last stop where at a beaituful paradise beach. With white sand and high palm-trees. BUT IT WAS SO CRAZY, the wind was so strong, I've never seen something like it. You could actually see huge parts of the sand of the beach moving over it. And it was not possible to lay there the sand blew into the ears, the face everywhere, so we ended up laying in the grass, and then around sunset it was time for us to go to the car-rental and after that the airport.

Sitting in the car moving against the airport we watched the beauiful stunning sunset. Again I can't describe it, the way to the airport. No pictures, just in my memory. I'm a bit affraid to forget it, it feels like the pictures in my head gets dissier and fades away the longer time that is passing. But something I always will remeber is the way it made me feel. And no one can take that away.

I <3 HI.
I'm going back one day.
To see Maui and Kauai.
I have too.
